Obesity can effect children both physically and mentally. When children keep getting more and more over weight they are putting themselves at risk of developing a disease. Type 2 diabetes , sleep apnea, respiratory disorders, binge eating and cardiomyopathy are five of the most common diseases an obese child can develop.
Most of these diseases do not have a cure. No parent wants their child to develop any of these diseases on their own account. That is why parents need to be aware of the health effects and stop their children from becoming obese.

- Sleep apnea- Causes children to have poor sleep and find it difficult to breathe. It causes children to feel tired during the day and they find it difficult to concentrate.
- Respiratory disorders- Develops blocked airways which makes the child breathlessness during physical activity.
- Binge eating- When a large amount of food is consumed in a short period of time.
- Cardiomyopathy- This is a chronic disease of the heart muscle.
